Whoosh! The Patriots Jet Team, Tim Decker, and Patty Wagstaff all did a great job at the 2011 California Capital airshow, but I can't believe I got an interview with Steve Hinton Sr! It was a great interview, and that made for a great day!
So much amazing things happened that day. Otto the helicopter was there, who did his cool yo-yo routine, an F/A-18 Hornet, an F-15E Strike Eagle, planes & pilots from Tora Tora Tora and so much more! The pyrotechnics display that Tora Tora Tora was amazing, and so were all the performers. I especially liked the military demos because they're so fast paced and exciting, but I also loved the whole routine between Tim Decker and Dan Buchanan, too. Tim was doing his routine in his Pitts Special when suddenly Dan Buchanan came out of nowhere in his hang glider, and Tim tried to scare him off by cutting Dan's long streamers behind his hang glider!
Also, the Patriots jet team was great, as always. It was also cool to see their two new L-39's and an updated routine, which is just as amazing to watch as the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. It's always super cool to see Dean “Wilbur” Wright do a tailslide, and to hear the whole crowd gasp as one of the Patriots flew around the tower!
The California Capital Airshow is always a great show and 2011 was one of the best. There were so many performers and it was do diverse too, so you got a taste of everything! I hope to see you at the 2012 California Capital Airshow!
